Five Things to Know About Chapman

The Chapman Panthers are coming off the best season in program history, having gone a perfect 22-0 last spring and claimed the team’s first national championship in its third trip to the title game.

After a summer to bask in the glow of that accomplishment, though, the beginning of the 2016-17 school year means it’s time to start looking at the 2016-17 version of the Panthers.

We asked head coach Dallas Hartley what fans should know about Chapman:

Key returning players: The Panthers return seven starters from the title team — Nicky Mullen, Jeff Shirver and Nolan Crosson on defense; Simon Jenkin and Regan Kelly in the midfield; and Dylan Garner and Wesley Greason at attack.

Best nickname for one of your returning players: Regan “Peanut” Kelly. He’s allergic to peanuts.

Key graduated/departed players: Attack Dave Appruzesse, midfielder Connor Reilly and goalie Gus Gradinger.

2016 Accolades: Southwestern Lacrosse Conference and MCLA Champions. MCLA Player of the Year Dylan Garner.

Team goals for 2017: Win the SLC and MCLA championships.

Academic achievement you’re proud of? 2016 Team GPA of 3.1 (40 players).
