Former El Toro High School star attackman Jared Ferrell, now a freshman at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is wasting no time in letting the midwest know that we produce some pretty good lacrosse players here in the OC. Ferrell started out with a bang as he was named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week on Febuary 18 for scoring eight goals with three assists and eight ground balls in his first week of college lacrosse. He finished with five goals, two assists and six ground balls in the Red Men’s Feb. 9 season-opening win over Calvin College and then scored three goals with one assist and two ground balls in a 9-6 win over Albion College on Feb. 10.
Ferrell is showing no signs of slowing down as he scored another eight goals this past week. Ferrell scored two goals in a Carthage 20-12 win over Hope College, three goals in a 15-13 loss to Adrian College, and three more goals in a 15-3 victory over Hanover College. Joining Ferrell on the Red Men’s lacrosse roster are sophomore midfielder Timothy Francis (Huntington Beach High School), freshman defenseman Evan Backal (San Juan Hills High School),senior midfielder Mike Upshaw (Foothill High School), and sophomore goalie James Fleming.
The Red Men are currently 6-2 overall and 1-0 in MLC play.
