If this were the Tour de France, they would call it a breakaway. Prior to Tuesday night’s game El Toro and Dana Hills had already separated themselves from the rest of the Sea View League with dominant 3-0 records in league play. Both had won all league games by more than comfortable margins. Tuesday night was a test to see if the Dolphins are ready to compete with the defending league champions
The Chargers responded to Tuesday night’s challenge like champions by bringing their A game and sending the message that they are still the team to beat in the Sea View League. Tyler Collins picked up four points (3g, 1a) and AJ Sherer made seven saves to lead the Chargers to a commanding 11-1 victory. El Toro has outscored league opponents 62-3 so far.
Jared Vlach (2g, 1a), Chris Garcia (2g, 1a), Edward Eisenhauer (2g), Parker Matthews (1g) and Sean Collins (1g) also found the back of the net. Defenseman Blake Young, Jake Rocker, Josue Cabrarra and Maesen Leavitt created turnovers, disrupted shots and won ground balls all night to keep the Dolphins off balance throughout the game.
Next up: Dana Hills (9-2;3-1) plays Mission Viejo (3-9; 2-2) tonight. El Toro (8-2; 4-0) plays Capo (5-5;0-4) on Thursday night.
