Huntington Beach – The Edison boys lacrosse team continued its winning ways as it knocked off Huntington Beach 10-8 on Thursday at Huntington Beach High School.
Edison (8-3, 3-0) was led by Connor Grief and AJ McLean, who each had three goals. Evan Sigel, Tommy West, Drake Choi and Kenny Carmichael each had one goal.
The Chargers and the Oilers were tied at 5-5 at halftime until Edison held Huntington Beach scoreless in the third quarter. During Huntington Beach’s third quarter drought, the Chargers scored five straight goals.
Huntington Beach scored three straight goals to bring the score to 10-8 in the fourth quarter but got no closer.
Edison’s win gives them it eighth win of the year, which is the most its had as a CIF sanctioned team. Edison, which has won five consecutive games, is also 3-0 in the Sunset and tied with Los Alamitos for first place.
Edison plays Los Alamitos on Friday at Los Alamitos High School at 6 p.m., but before that, Edison plays Bingham of South Jordan, Utah at Edison High on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Huntington Beach (6-5, 3-2) plays Del Norte of San Diego at Huntington Beach High School on Saturday at 1 p.m.
