As if getting ready for their first CIF season and hitting the books isn’t time consuming enough, Edison captains Tanner Orel and Joshua Gruwell are planning a charitable lacrosse camp to raise funds for the Royal Family Kids Camp, a program for abused foster kids. The two seniors are planning, hosting and coaching the for elementary and middle school aged athletes on March 9th on Edison High School’s turf field.
Coach Prieto, Edison’s head varsity coach, will be overseeing the camp. The camp will emphasize strengthening the athletes’ fundamental skills – throwing, catching, shooting, dodging, stick checks, and footwork. Campers will see what it is like to play at the high school level, taking part in fast pace drills and receiving one on one instructional time from varsity athletes. There will be scrimmages and competitions at the end of the camp where winning athletes can win prizes! The purpose of the camp is to help the game of lacrosse grow in the OC area and help prepare the younger generation of lacrosse players for the next level of game play. All proceeds from the camp will be going to Royal Family Kids Camp, a program for abused foster kids.
All participants must provide their current US Lacrosse number in order to sign up; it is also highly recommended they have at least one season of experience. All lacrosse activities for the younger athletes (4th-5th graders) will be no contact.
To RSVP for the camp simply email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information; player and parents name, cell phone number, what grade the player is in, and t-shirt size. The camp is only $25 with checks payable to Seaside Community Church.
