The seventh-grade squad from the Santa Monica Dragons claimed the U13 championship at the Adrenaline Fall Brawl in Irvine last weekend, going undefeated in pool play and beating Alpha Lacrosse of Escondido 12-2 in the title game.
That effort led a solid showing by all the Dragons teams in the Fall Brawl. The sixth-grade and eighth-grade teams each finished 3-1 in the event, and the high school squad, playing in the very competitive Elite division, lost two tough games on Saturday, then came together as a team on Sunday to beat Team 12 from Riverside.
“Overall, this was a great weekend for the Dragons program,” coach Matt Cannone said. “The boys played as a team and showed a lot of improvement from the summer. We’re looking forward to the Vegas tournament in two weeks.”
