Senior attack Alex Dixon had seven goals at halftime Saturday, sparking the No. 7 Crespi Celts to a 13-3 lead against Mission League opponent Chaminade. By the time Crespi ran out the clock on a 20-6 victory, Dixon had tacked on four more to finish with 11 and set a Crespi single-game record.
Junior Jack Doyle contributed three goals and two assists for the Celts (3-4), and Cam Radenberg (1g, 2a), Sean Friedman (1g, 1a), Dorian Ruh (1g), Connor Leste (1g). Seth Park (1g, 1a) and Jake Perez (1g) also scored.
Junior Ryan Oaks led Chaminade (3-4) with four goals, and junior Mark Galanti and senior Matt Dauw each scored one.
Dixon, who scored three goals within the first seven minutes of the game Saturday, broke the Crespi record of 10 goals in a game set by Jack Vonarb in 2012 against Redondo Union. Vonarb currently plays at NCAA D-II Rollins College in Florida.
Dixon’s goals came in all shapes and sizes: High-to-low rips from the perimeter; quick-stick shots off precision feeds while cutting down the middle; opportunistic shots off ground balls or rebounds in traffic. In the early going, he scored at will, helping Crespi built a 17-4 lead behind nine Dixon goals heading into the fourth quarter. With a running clock due to the wide margin, but with the record within reach, Dixon went for it, got it, then headed immediately to the bench.
