The JSerra Catholic High School Lions jumped out to 7-0 first quarter lead and then cruised to a 15-3 victory over Trinity League rivals Santa Margarita Catholic High School.
Freshman attackman Anthony DeMaio had a monster night for the Lions as he led all scorers with five goals and three assists. James Yanes (three goals, three assists) and Brendan Lynch (three goals, one assist) also had big nights for the Lions. Cole Schleppy (one goal, two assists), Jake Schleppy (one goal), Logan Olmsted (one goal), Yuta Murata(one goal, one assist), and Tucker (one assist) completed the JSerra scoring. Jake Henigman and Holden Milner combined for 11 saves for the Lions.
Andrew Kofoed had two goals and Doc Dochterman one for the Eagles. Hayden Ruiz had one assist and eight groundballs. Garrett Parsons picked up four groundballs for Santa Margarita.
The 11-2 Lions faceoff against 11-4 Saint Margaret’s Episcopal School in one of the two “games of the century” that will be played in South OC Tuesday night. Both teams are undefeated in league play and the game will have huge implications for both the Trinity League title and playoff seedings. Tesoro High School plays San Clemente High School with the South Coast League title at stake in the other Tuesday night “game of the century”.
The Eagles fall to 5-9 and will travel to Foothill High School Tuesday.
