Junior Jack Doyle of Crespi Carmelite has committed to play Division I college lacrosse at St. John’s University.

“St. John’s is getting a great student athlete,” Crespi coach Brock Livingston said. “Jack cares about school as much as lacrosse, and his dedication to his academics is evident on his transcripts. He is a very hard worker, and his lacrosse IQ is off the charts.
“Jack is a special kid, and I say that not because of lacrosse ability, but as a person. He is very loyal and caring about the people around him.”
Doyle, named a captain at Crespi for the coming season, missed all of last year with a knee injury but was healthy enough by summer and fall to participate in a number of club events and show coaches that he was fully recovered.
“I know that missing last season was really tough on him,” Livingston said, “because he had a big impact as a freshman and would have probably been even greater last season. I have watched him play all summer and fall, and I believe he has regained the form that made him a starter as a freshman.”
Doyle scored 11 goals and recorded 27 assists as a freshman. This year, he will team with senior attack Alex Dixon, co-player of the year in the Mission League last season, to lead what should be a strong offense for the Celts.
“Jack is very vocal, and it is a welcome addition to our team,” Livingston said. “I am excited and relieved to have him back this season. I believe he will help give us a chance to contend with Harvard Westlake and Loyola this year. I expect nothing less from him [after the injury] than any of our top performers.”
At St. John’s, Doyle will join fellow Class of 2016 commit Ryan Blank, a goalie from Foothill (Tustin) who committed to the Red Storm in October. Sophomore midfielder Nick Heller (Beverly Hills HS, 2013) is the only other Californian currently on the St. John’s roster.
