COVID-19 Concerns Take Toll on Spring Sports Season

Many school districts with the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section (SS) have suspended play for all sports in response to concerns about COVID-19. Many programs are allowed to continue practice while game play is suspended. Following is a list of actions taken by various school districts as reported to MaxLax.

  • Murrieta Valley Unified has postponed all games and practices thru the end of March
  • The Mission League has cancelled games through March 28.
  • Oak Park Unified School District has suspended all athletics (games and Practices) until at least April 6, 2020.
  • William S. Hart School District has announced suspension of all athletics until at least April 30th.
  • As of March 12, Irvine Unified School District will continue to play but will not allow spectators
  • As of March 12, the Trinity League will continue to play but will limit spectators
  • Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School district is postponing/cancelling all athletic events until April 13th.
  • Riverside Unified has suspended sports until further notice
  • Corona Norco Unified School District has suspended play until the end of March
  • Santa Barbara Unified School District has suspended play until the end of March
  • Capistrano Unified School District has suspended play through April 13
  • Saddleback Valley Unified School District has suspended play until further notice.
  • Temecula Valley Unified School District has suspended play (end date unknown)
  • Manhattan Beach Unified School District has suspended play until April 6
  • Palos Verdes Unified School District has suspended play
