Cord, Pollard, Rovazzini Name Boys Lacrosse Players of the Week

Corona del Mar goalie Kyle Cord, St. Margaret’s faceoff middie Stuart Pollard, and Newport Harbor goalie Garrett Rovazzini were named boys’ lacrosse Players of the Week by the MaxLax staff.

As he has been all season, Cord was outstanding in goal last week. He wracked up 11 saves against Granite Bay Monday and 13 versus Tesoro on Saturday. The all-county goalie has been a big part of the Sea Kings defense and kept CDM in both games.

Pollard, the Tartans’ trusty FOGO posted two scintillating performances last week to help St. Margaret’s stay undefeated at 9-0. The junior won 13 of 17 face-offs in the win over Yorba Linda and 18 of 20 in the win over Poway.

Rovazzini, a sophomore goalie, helped keep Newport Harbor stay undefeated in the Sunset League last week.  In Newport Harbor’s 9-8 overtime win over Edison last Wednesday, he had 12 saves, including a crucial one in overtime. Rovazzini followed that performance with 7 saves on Friday in an 11-3 win over Huntington Beach.
