Mira Costa improved to 2-0 with an 18-2 drubbing of Beverly Hills Friday night. “We took advantage of every opportunity,” said senior middie Nick Coons, who scored five goals in the contest.
Senior attack Joe Rosenberg also had five points (3 goals, 2 assists). Junior middie Zane Crandall had three goals and an assist.
The combination of junior defenseman Jack Gibbons and freshman Griffen Frye did a great job keeping the Normans’ top player, Sammy Edwards, a 2015 Loyola commit, in-check. Edwards finished with Beverly Hills’ only two goals.
This one was never really close, with Coons scoring twice in the first 1:29 and never looking back. The Mustangs next game is Tuesday night at Newport Harbor.
