San Clemente High School announced that boys varsity lacrosse head coach Mike Hutnick has resigned effective Monday, Sept. 15, and that assistant varsity head coach John Madden has been named Interim Head Coach. The school will immediately undergo a formal search process before naming a new varsity head coach.
Hutnick has been the Tritons head coach for the past two seasons, taking over for Glen Miles who left in 2012 for St. Margaret’s after taking San Clemente to the CIF Finals where they lost to Corona Del Mar. Hutnick compiled a 29-11 record in two seasons, guiding the Tritons to back-to-back playoff runs including last year’s CIF Southern Section semifinals where they lost to eventual champion Foothill.
“We’d like to thank Mike for all his outstanding contributions to our program and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. We’re excited about the direction of our program and we are committed to filling our head coach position as soon as possible,” stated SCHS Booster Club President Don Howren.
