City Lacrosse, a nonprofit organization providing free lacrosse and youth development programs to boys and girls in South Los Angeles, has partnered with StringKing to host its 2nd annual City Lacrosse Overnight Camp this summer at Thacher School in Ojai.
Launched just more than a year ago, City Lacrosse now serves more than 250 kids across six program sites during the school year. But in order to extend those programs to include an overnight camp, City Lacrosse needs help from the local lacrosse community.
Below is a message about the camp from City Lacrosse founder and Executive Director Mike Levin, posted on the camp’s crowd-funding page:
The camp will take place at The Thacher School in Ojai and will include 80 boys and girls not only from City Lacrosse in LA, but also from the Oakland Lacrosse Club, Denver City Lax and BRIDGE Lacrosse of Dallas. This is an incredible opportunity for many deserving kids who otherwise would not have the chance to get out of the city and attend such a camp.
As the lead sponsor, StringKing has made a gift of $6,000 to fund the camp, but we need your help to reach our goal of $25,000 and ensure that all 80 kids can make their camp dreams a reality. As a thank you, supporters of City Lacrosse Overnight Camp will be eligible to receive cool prizes from StringKing. Last weekend, City Lacrosse teams took part in the Battle of L.A. tournament in San Pedro, entering teams in the Boys U11, Boys U13B and Girls U15 divisions.
