Chris Nunziata Named Head Coach at El Toro

Chris Nunziata has been named the new head coach of the El Toro High School boys’ lacrosse team. Nunziatta has been assistant coach at El Toro for the past two seasons, helping to lead the Chargers to two consecutive Sea View League titles and a combined 24-12 record.  The Chargers will move up to the South Coast League in 2017.

Nunziata grew up in the Boston area where he gained most of his lacrosse playing experience. After graduating high school he went on to Boston College where he played attack for the Eagles MCLA team. For the past 8 years, Nunziata has lived and coached in California. His first coaching job in California was with El Toro before moving to Newport Harbor to coach for 4 seasons, assisting the Varsity team. He returned to El Toro in 2014 to serve as the Varsity assistant coach.

“El Toro is extremely excited for this year”, senior captain Jared Vlach said by email. “These past 2 years with Coach Nunziata have been extremely helpful.  Utilizing his past experience in Boston, he has been able to help all of us grow on and off the field.  We have grown to trust his teaching methods over these last two successful years, improving every aspect of our game.”
“As for this year, I think Coach Chris is really going to focus on dominating on both ends of the field.  From defense to transition to offense, he has always stressed the importance of teamwork in every aspect of the game.”
