Chapman Starts 2017 at No. 1

MCLA.US reported that Chapman University, the defending national champions after posting an undefeated 2016 campaign, is sitting at No. 1 in the 2017 Under Armour MCLA Division I Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released on Wednesday.

The Panthers received 20 of the 23 first place votes, placing them 27 points ahead of No. 2 Cal Poly, which lost to Chapman in the title game of the 2016 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour last May.

No. 3 Colorado joins Cal Poly with a first place vote. Grand Canyon – the 2015 national champion – and Georgia Tech round out the top five.

Led by Chapman, the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) place four teams in the Top 10 and six in the Top 25 to start the season. The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC) has three teams in the top seven.
