Chaminade Girls Claim No. 1 Seed in LA Playoffs

The Chaminade Eagles, who took over the No. 1 spot in the US Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA coaches poll in Week 4, were named the No. 1 seed in the 16-team US Lacrosse Southern Section North playoff bracket. After a season-opening loss at Royal, the Eagles (15-3) lost only to Poway (San Diego) and Newport Harbor, the No. 6 seed in the Orange County playoffs.

Following Chaminade in the seeding order are No. 2 Redondo Union (12-3), No. 3 Agoura (12-4) and No. 4 Cate (14-0). Though the Rams finished the regular season undefeated, they faced only two teams ranked in the final Top 20 coaches poll. Cate beat Thousand Oaks 13-12 in late March and Newbury Park 21-12 on April 19.

Defending North champion Oak Park, which went 8-7 while playing the toughest schedule in LA (according to LaxPower.com), was seeded fifth.

First-round games will be played Tuesday at the home field of the higher seeded team. Second round games are schedule for Thursday.
