The Corona del Mar Sea Kings jumped out to a 13-2 lead after three quarters on Monday night before settling into cruise control and finishing with a 14-7 victory over St. John’s of Houston, Tex. A total of eight different Sea Kings scored and three young players experienced the thrill of scoring their first varsity goals. Sophomore Jordan Greenhall led all scorers with 4 goals and 2 assists. Junior Nino Chavez (1 goal, 3 assists) had four points and junior Sherwin Gersten (2 goals, 1 assist) had three. Juniors Ben Palitz and Noah Howe found the back of the net two times each. Rounding out the CdM scoring were a trio of sophomores who notched their first varsity goals: Stephen Von Der Ahe (1 goal, 2 assists), Jason Simaan ( 1 goal, 1 assist), and Will Cord.
Simaan won 16 faceoffs before sitting down in the fourth quarter. The junior threesome of defenseman Brett Greenlee, Hugh Crance (Notre Dame), and Brian Leguay played solid D in front of goalies junior Hoyt Crance and sophomore Nick Guizen.
