Sparked by Trevor Kist winning 16 out of 17 faceoffs (and 6 groundballs) and strong team defense by Jerecho Fischbeck (4 groundballs), Eric Thiercof (1 assist), Michael Brunette (6 groundballs), Jake Ambrosius (3 groundballs) and Lucas Moreno, Capo Valley rolled to its fourth consecutive win, an 11-2 defeat of the San Juan Hills Stallions.
Jordan Wanger had another solid game in the cage, stopping 5 shots. The offense got started with an unassisted goal by Drew Casas (2 goals, 1 assist) and Carter Bache (assist Blake Berk) in the first quarter.
The Cougars started to really click during a 3-goal second period. Liam McDonough (3 goals) started it off with strong fast break goal by assisted by Casas. Brad McCarville scored the first of his three (3 goals, 1 assist), and Bache added his second. Brayden Hagerty got San Juan Hills on the board with a nice fast break goal, to make the score 5-1 at halftime.
McCarville led the 3rd quarter scoring with 2 goals on a nice split dodge and one from the left wing, and added an assist on a great feed to Parker Webb, who finished from the high crease. McDonough scored on another fast break led by Thiercof and Casas scored on a dodge from X. McDonough completed his hat trick in the 4th (assist from Bache) and Chris Hagerty got one for the Stallions. JD Garwood played strong throughout the game in goal for San Juan Hills. Berk and Cameron Lopez also scooped up 6 groundballs each for Capo.
Capo enters their break with a nice 5-3 record that did not seem likely just two weeks ago. They play the streaking Aliso Niguel Wolverines on April 15. San Juan Hills (0-8) travels to Chaparral next Thursday.
