The 2017 NCAA men’s and women’s lacrosse seasons opened this week with a handful of games. Bryant senior Cam Ziegler (La Costa Canyon) highlighted the action for San Diego lacrosse fans with a six-point game against Manhattan. He was not the only San Diegan making an impact this weekend though.
Ziegler started off 2017 with four goals and two assists to lead Bryant University to a 17-10 win over Manhattan. Ryan Sharpe (Poway) added two goals for the winners.

UMBC sophomore Jason Brewster (Valley Center) caused a career-high five turnovers while starting at defense against North Carolina. Brewster also recovered 2 groundballs.
San Diego State senior Vickie Porter (Poway) scored two goals in a 15-10 loss to Denver.
Southwestern University freshman Zane Abbott (Poway) handed out an assist in the first game of his college career to help the Pirates defeat Hendrix 10-8.
