Brent Leaves Concordia for Crean Lutheran

Less than two months after leading Concordia-Irvine to its first Division 2 National Championship, has stepped down as head coach of the Eagles.

Brent will become the first director Director of Lacrosse and Boy’s Lacrosse Head Coach at Crean Lutheran High School. He will join the Crean Lutheran faculty effective July 1 and teach Advanced Placement and Honors Psychology in addition to his coaching responsibilities.  The Saints begin CIF play in the spring of 2018.

“Leaving Concordia was a really difficult decision, but I know the opportunity at Crean Lutheran is what is best for my growing family,” Brent said by email. “I want to thank all the players, parents, coaches and administrators who have made my experience at CUI so great over the last 4 years. It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I am leaving, but I know that the program is set up to be very successful moving forward.”

During Brent’s time at CUI, the Eagles compiled a record of 62-11 (55-3 in last 3 years), won four straight Division 2 championships, and won the 2017 National Championship.  The Eagles also reached the National Championship game in 2015, where they came within one goal of another ring.   Brent was the and MCLA D2 National Coach of the Year in 2015 & 2017.

Brent also coached the Eagles’ team.  He led the Lady Eagles to 35 wins and 12 losses in 3 seasons, the 2015Western Women’s Lacrosse League Championship, and trips to the National Championship Tournament in 2015 and 2017.
Crean Lutheran will formally introduce Brent to their community during an on-campus reception on Wednesday, June 28, at 6:00 p.m.  A summer program for both the boys’ and girls’ programs is confirmed for July 31 – August 4 from 8:00-10:00 a.m. at the Great Park. A second week is tentatively scheduled for August 7-11.
