Branden Wilson Commits to University of Utah

Branden Wilson, a rising senior for the San Clemente Tritons, has verbally committed to play NCAA Division 1 lacrosse at the University of Utah. Wilson will be a part of the Ute’s first incoming class to compete within the Division 1 ranks. The University of Utah announced their plans to move from the MCLA to NCAA Division 1 this past June.

Wilson is a First Team All-League midfielder and a two-time Second Team All-County midfielder.  He points to academics, athletics, and overall atmosphere as the reason he selected Utah.

“I fell in love with the University of Utah’s campus and the family atmosphere created by the Holman Family” Wilson stated.  “I am humbled to be a part of this amazing West Coast Lacrosse movement! I look forward to working with Coach Brian and Coach Marcus Holman on offense at the next level and to attend a strong academic school.”

Wilson is a three-sport athlete who also plays football and basketball for the Tritons, a dying trend in today’s youth athletic climate. In 2016, Wilson was named to the first team All-CIF defensive squad while playing cornerback for San Clemente during the Tritons’ run to the CIF Southern Section and State titles.

Wilson played his youth lacrosse for Victory and FCA, coached by Glen Miles, and for Brady’s Bunch and Team 12, coached by Tom Demaio. He has won two consecutive South Coast League championships under coaches Brad Reppert and then Branden Finnerty. both of whom Wilson contributed to winning a South Coast League Title under.  Wilson credits all four coaches for his development as a player.
