Two weeks remain in the regular season and teams are scrambling to improve its current ranking to make the playoffs. Down below are games to watch for the week of 4/15/19-4/20/19
Santiago at Tesoro. 5 p.m.
A top 10 battle between two teams that look to improve their records and rankings.
Breakdown: The Sharks (10-4) look to bounce back from Saturday’s loss, as they travel down south to play Tesoro. The Titans (9-4) have a big week this week, as they also play at San Clemente on Thursday and Foothill at home on Saturday.
Granite Bay at Foothill, Tuesday at 4 p.m.
One of Northern California’s best teams comes down to Orange County to play one of Orange County’s best teams.
Breakdown: Foothill (8-6) looks to halt its two-game losing skid, as they face a Grizzlies team (13-2) that has scored in double figures in all but one of their games. The Knights previous two losses have come against Orange County’s and Los Angeles’ best teams, St.Margaret’s and Palos Verdes.
Trabuco Hills at Mater Dei, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Monarchs coach Johnny Rodriguez faces his former team in a battle of ranked teams.
Breakdown: The Monarchs (6-8) have lost four straight games, all of which have come by two goals or less. The Mustangs (13-1) are coming off of a 12-6 road win over Corona Del Mar.
Santa Margarita at Servite, Wednesday at 4 p.m.
A Trinity League showdown which has a lot on the line for both teams.
Breakdown: If the Eagles (6-7) win, the league championship and automatic playoff spot is all but theirs, but if the Friars (6-6) win, their league title aspirations stay alive. The Eagles won the first matchup winning 14-6 after being tied 4-4 at halftime.
Tesoro at San Clemente, Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Two top 10 teams who are also South Coast League opponents facing off against each other for the second time.
Breakdown: If the Tritons win, their league title hopes stay alive, but if the the Titans win, Trabuco Hills clinches at least a share of the league title. The Tritons won the first matchup 12-9 at Tesoro High, as they’ll get another chance to beat the Titans again. The Titans haven’t lost to the Tritons twice in one season since 2016.
Torrey Pines at St.Margaret’s, Thursday at 7 p.m.
Two of the top teams in California for a Thursday night match in San Juan Capistrano.
Breakdown: It’s a classic San Diego vs. Orange County matchup, as the Tartans (10-2) play the Falcons in what should be an instant classic. According to InsideLacrosse.com, The Falcons (11-2) are ranked second in the west while the Tartans are ranked fifth in the west.
St.Margaret’s at Palos Verdes, Saturday at 1 p.m.
The best team from Orange County visits the best team from Los Angeles in what could be a Southern Section preview.
Breakdown: Two days after playing the best team from San Diego, the Tartans will have to play the best team in Los Angeles. The Sea Kings, have only one loss to their season, a 20-15 loss to IMG Academy of Florida. The Sea Kings are ranked fourth in the west according to insidelacrosse.com.
Foothill at Tesoro, Saturday at 3 p.m.
A rematch of last year’s county semifinal game.
Breakdown: The Titans host the Knights in a rematch of last year’s semifinal game, which was won by Foothill by a score of 11-9. Both teams were hit hard in terms of graduation from last year, as this will more than likely answer many questions from these two teams in terms of rankings.
