Botkiss Leads San Diego’s Young Guns

Torrey Pines junior Beau Botkiss leads a trio of local players who have earned national recognition by being named Young Guns by Inside Lacrosse.  Botkiss, a LSM/defenseman was the top ranked player from the west with a  #13 Junior Young Gun Ranking.  IL reports that Botkiss is considering Harvard after his high school career ends.  A pair of teammates from the Bishop’s School completed the trio.   Midfielder Christian Ford (committed to Michigan)  checked in as the #31 Junior Young Gun and attackman Connor McCroskey (committed to Harvard) earned recognition as the #46 Senior Young Gun.

The Young Guns lists show that California and other parts of the country continue to close ground on the traditional hotbeds of  New York and Maryland.  Twenty nine of the 50 Young Gun seniors hail from New York or Maryland.  Pennsylvania and Connecticut tied for a distant third with five representatives on the senior list apiece.  Nimber 13 Senior Young Gun Nate Marano of Foothill High School in Tustin was the only other Californian on the list with McCroskey.

The Young Gun seniors are more evenly spread across the country with 11 New Yorkers, 10 Pennsylvanians, and five apiece from Maryland, California, Connecticut.
