Bishop’s moves up to No. 5 as postseason begins

With the CIF San Diego Section boys lacrosse playoffs set to begin this week, Bishop’s (12-4) moved up three spots to No. 5 in this week’s MaxLaxSD .

In the midst of a four-game winning streak, the Knights capped off their regular season campaign with a thrilling, 7-6 overtime victory over Santa Fe Christian (9-7).  The victory concluded an undefeated league campaign for Bishop’s, as the Knights defeated league opponents by an average of eight goals during the regular season.

Now entering CIF Open Division postseason play, Bishop’s is set to square off against Coronado (13-4) on Saturday, May 12th.

As for the remainder of the poll, the top four spots all remained the same as last week, with (15-1), (16-2), Coronado and San Marcos (15-4) headlining the top.

In addition, both Poway (9-8) and (16-4) dropped one spot, while (12-8) dropped three spots to No. 10 after ending the regular season on a three-game losing streak.

As a result of the three-game skid to conclude the regular season, was not selected into the CIF Open Division.  Instead, they will participate in the CIF Division I playoff bracket and are set to play their first match on Friday, May 11th.
