Senior Landon Smith scored the game’s first goal just 35 seconds in the contest Wednesday, sparking host No. 1 Palos Verdes to an early 4-1 lead in what turned into a 13-4 victory over No. 6 Agoura.
Smith finished with four goals to lead the Sea Kings (8-0), who won on back-to-back days for the second time this season and are right back at it Friday with a visit from No. 5 Chaminade.
Face-off specialist Cole Clinton provided Palos Verdes with plenty of possession Wednesday, winning 15 of 17 face-offs, and goalie Kyle McCann kept the Chargers in check with nine saves on 11 shots on goal.
Smith, Jake Jellison (2g), Birk Swan (2g, 3a) and Luc Charbonnier (2g, 1a) provided the first-quarter goals that gave the Sea Kings the early cushion. Swan scored his second in the second period, then PV scored four unanswered in the third quarter to take control with a 9-2 lead.
Junior Douglas McCarthy scored three goals to lead Agoura (4-4), and freshman middie Jake East scored one. The Chargers are back on the field Friday with a home game against No. 10 Palisades.
