No. 10 Beckman remained undefeated in league play and secured the Pacific Coast League title and a playoff spot Wednesday with a resounding 17-5 win over visiting Woodbridge.
Max Cody fueled the Patriots’ offense, winning 23 of 25 face-offs, and Cayden Seeber anchored the defense with 10 saves.
Offensively, Beckman continued to demonstrate a well balanced offense with six players scoring goals. Gavin Dankert (5g, 2a), Zack Carter (3g, 3a), Jason Cheng (2g, 4a), Jacob Sanders (3g), Ethan Edwards (2g) and Casey Finley (2g). Spencer Thomson and Justin Galentine contributed with 1 assist each.
Josh Carter led the defense with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, and John Harley (3 gb, 2 CTO), Alex Gillman (3 gb, 1 CTO) and Justin Galentine (1 CTO) made things difficult for Woodbridge.
“Today’s game was won between the lines, as Max Cody was dominant at the X, allowing our offense to go to work,” Beckman coach Matt Cannone said. “The D came up big, allowing only one goal in the final three quarters, sealing the victory.”
