Air Force Welcomes 18 Freshmen to Men’s Lacrosse Roster

The Air Force Academy officially added 18 freshmen, including four Colorado natives, to the Falcons’ men’s lacrosse roster for the 2016-17 season. The four freshmen hailing from Colorado are Paxton Boyer (Mountain Vista), Chet Dunstan (Regis Jesuit), Adam Kratt (Regis Jesuit) and Jake Thornally (Air Academy). All told the freshmen lacrosse players represented 11 states.

The announcement was made by Head Falcon lacrosse coach Eric Seremet.

“We are excited to welcome the class of 2020 to the Air Force Academy,” explained coach Seremet. “This is a well-rounded group that should hit the ground running as a class.”

“They have the potential to push our returning players at every position which should make for an exciting fall season. We are looking forward to working with our new additions this season.”

The 18 freshmen were already in the midst of Air Force Basic Cadet Training at the time of the announcement. Basic Cadet Training began on June 30 and lasted six weeks.  The announcement listed the athletic credentials for Boyer, Dunstan, Kratt and Thornally as follows:

Paxton Boyer – Goalkeeper, Mountain Vista HS, Colo.
Four-year varsity letterman … four-year varsity starter … three-time team captain … first team all-state 2014 and 2015.

Chet Dunstan – Attack/Midfield, Regis Jesuit HS, Colo., USAFA Prep
Four-year varsity letterman … member of the 2014 state championship team … first team all-state in 2015 … All-American honors in 2015 … first team all-conference in 2015.

Adam Kratt – Defender, Regis Jesuit HS, Colo., USAFA Prep
Three- time varsity letterman … member of the 2014 state championship team … 2015 first team all-state in … 2015 All-American honors … 2015 first team all-conference … Bronco Award for leading the team in ground balls in 2015.

Jake Thornally – Midfielder, Air Academy, Colo.
First-team all-state Colorado 4A … first team all-area … first team all-conference … three-time team captain … member of the 2013 state runner-up team … member of the 2016 semi state semifinalist team … tennis: 4A regional champion … fourth place finish at state … first team all-conference … first team all-area … team captain … four-year varsity starter.

Air Force competes in the Southern Conference with Bellarmine, Furman, High Point, Jacksonville, Mercer, Richmond and VMI. The Falcons finished 2016 with a 15-3 record, a SoCon championship and a no. 12 national ranking. They were defeated by Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA playoffs.
