Agoura senior midfielder and face-off specialist has been accepted to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he’ll play NCAA Division III lacrosse.

“MIT is one of the most competitive academic schools in the country to get into,” Agoura coach Sean Lindsay said. “This was his No. 1 choice, and I’m beyond excited for him not only to be able to continue to play lacrosse at the next level but to also get such an amazing education.”

Galer is a three-year varsity player for the Chargers and will be a team captain this year. He also plays for the LA Mavericks club program.

“He is a hard worker, great leader and sets the example for all lacrosse players on how to get it done on the field and more importantly in the classroom,” Lindsay said.

Galer considered Harvard and UC Berkeley if he hadn’t been accepted at MIT. On the Engineers’ roster, Galer will join midfielder Graham Francis (Palos Verdes 2012) and attack Michael Traub (Aliso Niguel 2013), along with goalkeeper Eric Bartell (San Diego Canyon Crest Academy 2012).
