University of Denver senior midfielder Erik Adamson (Foothill High School) was named a pre-season First Team All American by Inside Lacrosse. Adamson, a senior, is one of seven Pioneers to receive pre-season All American recognition from IL.
If the pre-season prognosticators are correct, Adamson and sophomore teammate Scott McGowan (St. Margaret’s Episcopal School) will join Emily Kift (Foothill) and Knute Kraus (Tesoro High School) as the only Orange County products to win a NCAA lacrosse national championship. The Pioneers are ranked No. 1 in IL’s 2015 Face-Off Yearbook Men’s Division I Top 20 rankings.
Kift hoisted a 2014 Women’s Division 1 National Championship trophy with her University of Maryland teammates in May. The Terps are ranked No. 1 in IL’s 2015 Face-Off Yearbook Women’s Division I Top 20 rankings, giving Kift hopes of a repeat. Kraus, a captain at Salisbury University, played on the Seagulls’ 2012 Division Division 3 National Championship team. Kraus was one of the top defensemen in Division 3 last year, finishing the season as a Second Team All American, First Team All Capital Athletic Conference, CAC All-Academic, and an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Mid-Atlantic.
