Trabuco Hills Coach Eric Bassett and the members of the varsity lacrosse team have selected (pictured from left to right) Justin Paget, Max Wulterin, Jared Friesen, AJ Switzer, Holden Evans, and Colin Seedorf as team captains for the 2019 season.
Evans, Friesen, Paget and Switzer were all part of Bassett’s inaugural freshmen class at Trabuco Hills and all four have been on the varsity team for four years. Wulterin is a returning starter and Seedorf joined the varsity team a quarter of the way through last season after picking up the sport two weeks before the season.
Evans and Paget are repeat captains, while Friesen, Seedorf, Wulterin and Switzer have been selected for the first time.
Evans is the returning South Coast League player of the year and committed to play lacrosse at Colorado Mesa upon graduation. He will be joined at Colorado Mesa by Switzer who was named first team South Coast League as a midfielder last year and Seedorf. The trio continues the tradition of the pipeline from Trabuco Hills to Grand Junction, CO.
Paget is a returning first team South Coast League short stick defensive midfielder who brings toughness and an endless motor to the field every game. Friesen, who has committed to play at Ohio Wesleyan was also named first team South Coast League at attack last year. Wulterin will anchor the defensive unit with his effort and toughness.
“All of these guys were voted captains by their teammates. They have gotten better every year both with the team and on their own. It’s their team now and we’ll go as far they take us. I’m looking forward seeing how far we can go” Coach Bassett said.
Trabuco Hills has its first game of the season at home on Friday, March 1st when they host Brighton High School out of Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Trabuco Hills beat Brighton 12-4 last year during their trip to Orange County.
