5 things to Know: University High School Girls Lacrosse

One of the most improved girls’ lacrosse team in Orange County has been University High School.  The Trojans have improved from 3-15 in 2014 to 7-8 in 2015 to 12-6 in 2016.  In fact, Uni finished 2016 ranked in the Southern Section Top 20 by LaxPower.com. Head coach Martin Stibolt  listed five things to know about Uni girls’ lacrosse as the Trojans get ready for 2017.

  1. Uni’s starting varsity goalie, Lily Huang, graduated last year, but the team welcomes freshman Madison Beltran to the program.  Madison shows interest and great potential at the goalie position.
  2. Ashlyn Wang (Sr.), a key midfield player, is also a tennis player and is celebrating her recent win over Corona del Mar’s doubles teams.  Although University lost the match, Ashlyn and her teammate secured three wins and handed the #1 ranked CdM doubles team their first loss of the season.
  3. University is sending a team to participate in Fall Ball.  It is a mixture of returning players from both levels and we have a roster of about 20 players.
  4. University continues to develop its off-season program with approximately 25 girls practicing daily to prepare for the season.
  5. University High School ambitiously aims to secure a spot in the post-season tournament this year.
