Caleb Bozarth is the Defensive POTW

This week’s player of the week is Caleb Bozarth. Anyone who has been around OC lax for a few year is familiar with Caleb. A shut down defenseman is valuable as any player on the field. Taking care of top scorers can demoralize an opponent, create turn overs and make the other team adjust away from their big scorer and go with less capable scores.

Last week San Clemente scored two very big wins against Top 10 teams.   The Tritions took down Trabuco Hills by a lopsided 17-6. Bozarth shut down his attackman, had five ground balls and three caused turn overs. Against bitter rival Tesoro ( If you don’t believe the bitter rivalry just go to a game), Bozarth and his team dominated once again.  The majority of Tesoro-SC games over the last three years have been one goal and OT games. Not this time.  SC came out a 14-6 impressive winner. Once again Caleb played shut down dee, had four ground balls and three caused turnovers. caught up with coach Brad Reppert of San Clemente: ” Caleb is a great shut down defender, He plays a tenacious style of defense.  He is extremely good off the groundballs and a great clearing defenseman. He has started since his sophomore year, and is a second year captain. Caleb comes with a hard hat attitude to every practice, workout and game.He has a great motor and is a leader by example. We are fortunate to have a player like that to help lead the team. ”

SC looks to be a hot and Coach Repp knows how to win.  He took Santa Margarita to the OC semifinals in 2012,  where ironically the Eagles lost in OT to the Tritons.   Watch out if you are in the San Clemente side of the bracket.

From this reporters’ perspective the shut down deeman is the lacrosse rockstar. They abuse the other teams best player, demoralize the other team, get to clear it and usually score goals in transition. The are also know for superior smarts on the field…ITS TRUE!!!! 🙂

Devin Arkison was a 3X all American at Hobart college, he coaches elite high school. He is interesting in working with and level defensive player that wants to improve. His most recent commits are to Notre Dame, Denver and St Joes.
