The Esperanza High School Aztecs scored the first and last goals of the game but everything in between was dominated by the Great Oak High School Wolf Pack in a Great Oak 19-5 victory.
It only took Bryce Ippolito 40 seconds to put the Aztecs on the scoreboard as he set the tone for a wild first quarter. The two teams traded goals for the first five minutes of the game and it looked like the game would be an evenly matched shootout. Then with the score 4-3, the Wolf Pack scored four goals in the last few minutes of the quarter to establish an 8-3 lead. The score would be 17-3 before Esperanza would score again early in the fourth quarter.
Great Oak now has a 10-5 record and they will finish the regular season with two games against Chapparal High School. Esperanza is 5-7 as they get ready for a busy week with games against Trabuco Hills High School, Tustin High School and Yorba Linda High School.
