Dakota Rohlin (Great Oak) posted his fifth-career hat trick Thursday, leading Jacksonville to an 8-7 win at St. John’s at DaSilva Memorial Field. The Dolphins improve to 2-0 all-time against the Red Storm and 6-3 against current members of the Big East. Jacksonville (2-1) ended a three-game road losing skid with the triumph.
“It was a really big team win for us,” Rohlin said. “After our last loss (to Monmouth), we had to move quickly with the turnaround, but it came down to us playing team ball today. Everyone had a better focus coming into this game, and we executed well today.”
Boston University sophomore Hayden Ruiz (Santa Margarita) scored a goal and handed out two assists in the Terriers’ 13-10 road win. High Point freshman Jake Schleppy (JSerra) scored his first college goal in the game.
Colorado Mesa junior Steve Brandenburg (Los Alamitos) scored four goals and Logan Olmsted (JSerra) scored his first collegiate goal on Saturday. It was not enough though as the Mavericks were upset by Westminster in the RMAC opener.
Adams State’s Derek Bill (Dana Hills) handed out an assist in a 14-7 loss to Colorado College.
Carthage senior Jared Ferell (El Toro) had 2 goals and an assist in a 10-8 loss to Rhodes.
Haverford junior Chase Williams (St. Margaret’s) scored one goal in a 12-6 loss to no. 15 Cabrini.
Southwestern junior Jordan Riggs (San Clemente) scored a pair of goals in a 13-7 loss to Birmingham Southern.
