The Southwest Lacrosse Conference begins 2016 with nine nationally ranked teams. Led by Grand Canyon University, the defending national champions, the MCLA’s most competitive league features multiple national champion contenders in both Division 1 and Division 2.
Orange County’s impact on the SLC and the MCLA is obvious. The MCLA Nationals will be hosted by UCI and Chapman University for the third consecutive year in 2016. Chapman, Concordia, and Cal State Fullerton all made it to the MCLA nationals. Chapman reached the Final Four for the second consecutive year in 2015, and Concordia played in the national championship game. OC alums Nathan Smith (Aliso Niguel), Josh Gruwell (Edison), and Brandon Suchand (St. Margaret’s), shown above from left to right, helped Grand Canyon University win the National Championship. And the list goes on.
