2019 Orange County Coach of the Year joins the Girls !

Christina “CJ” Johnson has accepted the position of Director of Development, working with the Girls lacrosse program.

(CJ), a native of Hempstead, , played four seasons at NCAA Division II’s University in , Colorado. She was named a senior captain and during her senior season, the Rangers went 12-2 including a 6-0 in Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association play and the WILA Championship.

Following graduation, CJ joined the Rangers coaching staff as a graduate assistant as she pursued her Masters in Education. She spent three seasons as part of a staff that oversaw the Rangers move from the WILA to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as the RMAC made their 22nd sponsored sport. In CJ’s tenure on the staff, the Rangers earned the inaugural RMAC Championship as well as 27 all-conference honorees over two seasons.

After her time at Regis University, CJ started her career in elementary education as a second grade teacher. Two years following her time in the classroom, she found herself drawn back to the college lacrosse world. She was named the inaugural head coach at NAIA’s Johnson & Wales University in , Colorado and lead the Wildcats through their first two seasons. In addition to her experience on the Johnson & Wales University and Regis University coaching staff, CJ served as both an assistant and head coach with Denver Summit Lacrosse Club for five years while in Colorado.

In 2017 CJ relocated from Denver, CO to Costa Mesa, CA. She immediately joined southern California’s lacrosse community as the assistant coach at Foothill High School. During her first season as assistant, the Knights went 14-7 and advanced to the semi-final round of playoffs. Her second year with the Knights, CJ was named head coach and the Knights had an outstanding 17-2 season, advancing to the Orange County Championship game. In CJ’s tenure on the FHS staff 13 players were named All County and 4 players were named All-America. She was also named U.S. Lacrosse Orange County Coach of the Year and The Orange County Register Lacrosse Coach of the Year. In addition to her experience at FHS, CJ has previously served as a head coach for both OC Aces and SoCal Express.
