Tom Clarke, head coach of Irvine High School boys’ lacrosse, and Andreas Gaynor, head coach of University High School boys’ lacrosse, received good news from the US Lacrosse Orange County Chapter last week. Clark and Gaynor were notified that their programs were selected to host the Orange County 2017 playoffs.
Gaynor and his University High School team will host the semi-finals on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at their home field. The annual event will feature a full day of lacrosse with all four semi-final games being played at Uni High on that day.
“We are excited to be hosting the lacrosse playoffs at University HS this year,” Gaynor said by email. “We hope the exposure will be positive for the school and the sport’s growth in the Irvine area. The level of play in the playoffs has been stellar in the past years, we anticipate the same this year. Our program will be operating the concessions and hope to add to the festivities with some great food for all attending. (It should smell great.)”
Four days later the finalists travel across town to Irvine High School where the 2017 boys’ and girls’ Orange County champions will be crowned on May 10.
